Correct names for times and moments

In this article I intend to go through some things that I have realized during my Bible studies in recent days regarding the book of Revelation and Jesus’ speech on the Mount of Olives. We can read about this in, for example, Matterus chapter 24, Luke chapter 21 and Mark chapter 13. Unfortunately, there are many who connect these texts to the coming period which we call the great tribulation, but which should be called “Jacob’s trouble” or “Daniel’s 70th year week”. But what I realize when I read these texts is that something is not right. In part, Jesus talks about the imminent demolition of the temple, which also takes place in 70 AD under the leadership of General Titus.
 
In connection with this, he also says the following:

When you see the profane abomination that the prophet Daniel has spoken of standing in the holy place (let the reader get it right), then those who live in Judea must flee to the mountains. He who is on the housetop shall not go down and get what he has in the house, and he who is out in the field shall not turn back and get his cloak. Woe to those expecting a child or breastfeeding during that time. Pray that you will not run away during the winter or on the Sabbath. For there will be suffering the like of which has not existed from the beginning of the world to this day, nor will there be. And unless that time were shortened, no man would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, that time will be shortened.

He also talks about things we as Christians and his followers to watch out for.

Be careful that no one deceives you. Many will appear under my name, saying, I am the Messiah, and they will deceive many. You will hear battle cries and rumors of war. Make sure you don’t let yourself be intimidated. Such things must happen, but it is not yet the end.

But after this speech comes a very important comment from Jesus:

Immediately after the sufferings of that time, the sun will be darkened and the moon will lose its shine. The stars will fall from the sky and the powers of heaven will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will raise a cry of lamentation, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory

And this is where I start breathing evil “Owls” in the bog. Because what Jesus says here and which we can also read about in Joel 2:

The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the day of the Lord comes,

This happens in the book of Revelation the sixth chapter and seal 6. And for all of us who are used to reading this book and eschatology in particular know that this is before the Trumpets and bowls of wrath and therefore also before the “Antichrist”.

And I saw when the Lamb broke the sixth seal. And there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, and the whole moon became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as the autumn figs fall from the tree when it is shaken by the storm. And the heavens were withdrawn as when a scroll is rolled up, and all the mountains and islands were moved from their places, and the kings of the earth and the high lords and the commanders and the rich and the mighty and all, slave as well as free, hid themselves in caves and among rocks in the mountains and said to the mountains and rocks: “Fall on us and hide us from him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. For their great day of wrath has come, and who can stand?

In my opinion, this can only mean that Matthew 24, Luke 21 and Mark 13 must take place efore “Jacob’s Trouble”. That is: the Trumpets and the Bowls of Wrath

I will now show a little from the book of revelation, what the scriptures call the time, which we call “the age of the church and of grace”. But as many seem to have missed or not accepted.

Then I looked, and behold: a great multitude that no one could number, of all peoples and tribes and countries and languages. They stood before the throne and the Lamb dressed in white robes with palm branches in their hands

And one of the elders said to me: “These who are dressed in white clothes, who are they and where do they come from?” I answered: “You know, sir.” He said to me: “They are the ones who come from the great suffering. They have washed their robes clean and made them white in the blood of the Lamb

The Greek word used here is: G2347

  1. 1. a pressing, compressing, pressure oppression,
2. suffering, tribulation, distress, tribulation

But now we will look at what the scriptures say about the coming trial, i.e. the Trumpets and the bowls of wrath. What we often call “The Great Tribulation”

And then I will look at the letter to Filadelfia after it receives a special greeting.

“Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of trials that will come upon the whole world to try those who belong to this world”

But here it is G3986 which is used.

trial, proof: the trial set against you by my bodily condition, because the condition served to test the love of the Galatians for Paul (Gal. 4:14)

the test of man’s fidelity, integrity, virtue, constancy

an enticement to sin, temptation, whether it arises from desire or from external circumstances

an inner temptation to sin

about the temptation by which the devil tried to divert Jesus the Messiah from his divine mission

of the state of things, or a state of mind, by which we are drawn to sin, or to a lapse from faith and holiness

adversity, suffering, problem: sent by God and serving to test or prove one’s character, faith, holiness

temptation (ie trial) of God by men

rebellion against God, by which his power and justice are, so to speak, put to the test and challenged to show themselves

Which seem to be two completely different expressions for these two periods. And I think it’s important that we understand what the Holy Spirit is trying to tell us in this very exciting time.

Another thing to think about is what Jesus means when he says:
Learn from a comparison with the fig tree. Already when the twig becomes soft and the leaves burst out, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, you know that he is near and stands at the door. I tell you the truth: This generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

För det första kan vi nog inte helt förstå eller gissa oss till vad Jesus hade i tankarna när han sa detta. Men åtminstone 2 saker kan jag tänka mig rakt upp och ner.

2. Tidstecknen och hans återkomst

Om vi nu börjar med punkt 1 så ligger det ju bara 40 år bort, så “Det här släktet” skulle då utan problem kunna betyda den generation som levde just då. Men om han istället åsyftar hans återkomst blir det ju genast klart att det inte håller med “denna generation”.

Och att han skulle åsyfta hela “människosläktet” är nog inte heller troligt. Vad som kanske är mest troligt (min gissning) är att han åsyftar på det judarna, att dom ska finnas kvar när han kommer. Och vi vet ju att Israel blev nation 14 Maj 1948 och det innebär ju att det fanns kvar då och dom finns kvar nu.

Och eftersom den kommande domen över världen handlar om Israels frälsning genom “JacobsTroubble” måste det finnas judar kvar, annars har Gud inget folk att frälsa och återupprätta.
